Cenote Wedding Photography in Riviera Maya

On December 30th, I had the honor of documenting a traditional Mayan ceremony at Cenote Tak Be Ha, located inside Dos Ojos Park, one of the most iconic natural parks in the Riviera Maya, between Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun.

This post showcases my work in cenote wedding photography in Riviera Maya, documenting a deeply spiritual ceremony surrounded by nature, ancestral traditions, and the powerful energy of a sacred cenote.

The ceremony was guided by a Mayan shaman, who spoke in the Mayan language throughout the ritual, accompanied by a translator so guests could understand the meaning behind each moment.

Traditional Mayan musicians, dressed in ceremonial attire with masks and feathers, filled the cave with ancestral sounds and rhythms, creating a powerful atmosphere that echoed through the cenote.

Before entering the cenote, the couple and guests were purified before to enter, marking the transition into the ritual. Inside the cave, everyone waited in silence, surrounded by ancient rock formations, stalactites, and crystal-clear turquoise water.

The energy inside the cenote was profound, intimate, and timeless.

Cenote Wedding Photography in Riviera Maya

Cenote Tak Be Ha is a cave cenote known for its organic light, dramatic rock formations, and pristine water clarity. These elements allow me to create cinematic, emotional, and fine-art imagery that goes beyond traditional wedding photography.

During this ceremony, I documented:

  • Artistic and documentary cenote wedding photography

  • Ritual details, altar moments, and musicians

  • Emotional portraits of the couple and guests

  • Cinematic video capturing the essence of the ceremony

Couples looking for cenote wedding photography in Riviera Maya often choose sacred cenotes across the region, from Dos Ojos near Tulum to other natural locations surrounded by jungle and crystal-clear water.

Trash the Dress Cenote Photoshoot | Underwater Wedding Photography

The day after the ceremony, we created an intimate Trash the Dress photoshoot in other cenote, designed as a fine-art underwater experience exclusively for the couple. Learn more about my cenote underwater photography experiences in Riviera Maya.

The session included:

  • Jungle portraits around the cenote

  • Photography on the surface of the water

  • Underwater wedding photography inside the cenote

As a certified diving instructor, fashion stylish and underwater photographer, I provide personalized coaching, guiding the couple through breathing techniques, movement, and poses — even if they have never experienced an underwater photoshoot before.

To elevate the visual storytelling, I brought a special veil, used underwater to create ethereal, flowing, and visually powerful images that enhance the emotional depth of the session. The couple wanted something different and more adventurous for their post-wedding session. As very active and sporty people, they dreamed of images that truly reflected who they are.

For this reason, we created a freediving-style underwater photoshoot, where movement, breath, and connection with the water played a central role. I suggested a white bridal bikini look for her, paired with a white mask I brought especially for the session, allowing us to create clean, powerful, and modern underwater images while still honoring her bridal essence.

This approach resulted in dynamic, authentic, and expressive photographs, blending elegance with strength — a perfect balance between wedding imagery and an adventurous underwater experience.
